Then we finish it the classic way that George Dickel pioneered by chilling our rye whisky and filtering it through sugar maple charcoal made from our local woods. This creates our signature smoothness with spicy rye notes, subtle hints of sweet vanilla and a smoky oak finish. We reckon it's the best darned rye whisky you can get anywhere. George A. Dickel: Back in 1870, George Dickel began fulfilling his dream of crafting the smoothest Tennessee Whisky around. George believed that to make the best whisky, there was one ingredient that he needed most - time, so we let our whisky rest, as long as it needs to, before we bottle it. Early on, George also discovered that his whisky made in the cold winter months tasted smoother. Today we honor this tradition by chilling all of our whiskies before filtering them through sugar maple charcoal.
