Uncle Ray's Potato Chips, Hot Flavored, 4.5 Ounce, $1.99
Family made. Quality foods. The life and times of Uncle Ray. Chapter 34: Moby Dick's Baby: On a warm summer day in 1954, I went fishing with Bill Hurst, my sister's husband. Bill was more like a brother to me. We fished for about three hours without a bite, but then Bill got a bite that just about pulled him out of the boat. In what seemed like an hour he finally pulled out what looked like Moby Dick's baby (in reality, it was a huge pike - a whopper). Just one bite and one fish, but it really made our day. Bill had a new Ford Fairlane. It still smelled like new. He had put down a lot of newspaper in the trunk so as to not spoil his carpet with the recently caught fish, With the rods and reels in the backseat and the fish in the trunk, we drove home. About a week and a half later Bill told me that he smelled something very bad in his new car. Sure enough, he thought I had taken the fish home and I thought he had taken it in. Instead of being cooked r Bill's oven, Moby Dick's baby got cooked in the trunk of his car. Diligence: Concentrating on the task at hand. Fishing the job. Doing the job right. Family made - Quality foods. The Life and Times of Uncle Ray: Chapter 35. Bad Catcher or Bad Pitcher? Summers back in the day were a great time of the year in Michigan, especially after a cold winter. As soon as it got warm my sister Frances' husband Bill and I liked to go fishing in a lake that was stocked solid with perch and crappies. One day we caught so many fish that we thought we might actually sink the boat. We started back to shore and as we got closer Bill said, "Ray, throw me my car keys." I was standing up in the front of the boat and he was sitting in the back and as the keys flew over his head he said "Blankety blank blank blankety blankety blank!" I said, "I thought you would stand up to catch them." Would I dive into that deep cold water to find the car keys? Nope. Not now. Not ever. So Bill dove in. Time after time, he went down and came up with no keys. As he climbed back into the boat Bill didn't look good. "I'm going to have to hotwire the car," he growled. He was really mad. That was a long time ago. Bill, it's time to forgive and forget. Your car keys, Ford ID badge and wedding band are gone. I am sorry! But really Bill, you should have stood up. Uncle Ray's Potato Chips, Ripple, 4.5 Ounce, $1.99
Family made. Quality foods. The life and times of Uncle Ray. Chapter 19 soup's on. I was a cook in the navy, and we had a good crew, mostly. But Russo was from Brooklyn and he had kind of a bad attitude. One morning the crew chief took him to task for throwing out the leftover breakfast hash browns. 'what else am I supposed to do with them?' Russo snapped. The chief said, 'look, stupid, what you have left over from breakfast, you use for the soup for lunch!' Russo turned red as a beet and he didn't say a thing, but sure enough, after we had pancakes for breakfast the next morning, bits of them were floating in the soup for lunch at noon. Well, that wasn't exactly what the chief had in mind, and he chewed Russo out for what seemed like five minutes. Russo was in a stew, and he cut loose with the other cooks and me the next day-cussing the chief up one side of the galley and down the other. What he didn't know was that the chief was in the pantry, taking inventory about 15 feet away. We tried to tell Russo, but he was on a roll. When Russo finally cooled down, one of us yelled to the chief and asked if he had heard Russo. There was a silence, and we all waited for the explosion. Nothing happened, until finally the chief just said, 'yep'. And that was it. From then on, with the group of us, it was smooth sailing. Thoroughness. Following the rules. Uncle Ray's Potato Chips, BBQ Flavored, 4.5 Ounce, $1.99
Family made - Quality foods. The Life and Times of Uncle Ray: Chapter 28: Yeast Gone Wild: I enlisted in the U.S. Navy to learn a trade. At 17 years of age, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. My first job on the U.S.S. Bristol was as a fireman in the engine room. I soon discovered that it was not for me, so I managed to sign on in the kitchen as a cook and baker. Every night I would bake 96 loaves of bread, six sheet cakes, some pies and sweet rolls. While I waited for my dough to rise (I used a straight dough method), I would go to the mess hall to watch the nightly movie with the rest of the crew. One very warm night I returned to the galley from the movie, only to find a 2-foot moving white mass of dough all over the floor and coming right at me. It's as if it were alive. It didn't take long for me to realize that I had not been thorough in my preparing the dough. I had forgotten to put salt in the mix and that's a no-no. Without salt the yeast goes wild! Thoroughness: Paying attention to detail. Planning our work. Knowing ahead of time the pitfalls that could ruin a project. From my family to yours, thank you for choosing Uncle Ray's. - Uncle Ray.

Family made - quality foods. The life and times of uncle ray. Chapter 17 warm heart, cold treat. On hot summer days in Detroit, my brother bob liked to eat ice cream. He would go to an ice cream shop in a poor neighborhood on his break (he was a Detroit Edison electrician) and buy every child he saw an ice cream cone. One little guy ate his ice cream very fast, went to the end of the line with a ring of ice cream around his mouth and asked for another. Of course, bob bought him a second one. Bob was an inspirational man. He loved his wife Helen and his children - Debbie, Kenneth, Cindy, Carrie and Tim with all of his heart. His love extended to everyone he met, especially children. My hero bob left this world in 1996. I love and miss him. The way he went through life should be an example for us all. We should all think of others and how much we can help them; even if it's just holding a door open for someone. If the whole world adopted a kinder attitude toward one another, how much happier we'd all be. A smile is contagious, so start with that. Generosity: Giving freely to those in need. Expecting nothing in return. Praising the good we see in others. From my family to yours, thank you for choosing uncle ray's. - Uncle Ray.
