They include casks of Clynelish Single Malt Whisky whose water source flows from the Kildonan Hills where gold was discovered in 1868. These whiskies are then brought together to create a smooth, creamy and beautifully balanced blend with deep layers of rich flavor. The result is a sweet and fruity Blended Scotch Whisky that evolves into deep honeyed tones and long, lingering waves of light smoke. We have no interest in consistency or uniformity, instead – year by year – the variety and provenance of our barley shapes our spirit, and an ever-increasing range of casks are sourced to evolve the suite of flavours in our warehouse. Composing each unique recipe is a rigorous process; Adam must carry a multi-dimensional picture of the sensory potential that surrounds him and systematically evaluate every spirit by nose, taste and mouthfeel. Monkey Shoulder is a blend of Speyside single malt Scotch whiskies married together for flavor and consistency. The richness and vibrancy combine with fruity aromas and mellow vanilla, making it perfect for mixed drinks and cocktails. Monkey Shoulder casks are former bourbon casks, which add smooth vanilla flavors to this Scotch. It also has no grain whisky whatsoever anywhere in or even near the drink. It's barley all the way, folks. The name Monkey Shoulder might sound funny, but it has a history in whisky making. The maltmen who used to turn the barley would take long shifts, using their dominant arm significantly while working. At the end of the day, their shoulders would droop on one side, an ailment that became known as "Monkey Shoulder." Thankfully, the condition no longer exists, but the name lives on in our whisky. Monkey Shoulder is made for mixing and stands out most in mixed drinks, given its orange and vanilla flavors with a bit of spice. Aged 12 years. Double Wood - Matured in Bourbon & Sherry casks. A drop of pure Highland gold. The history of Tullibardine for distilling and brewing is one of the oldest in Scotland. Located in Blackford, the gateway to the Highlands, it was here in 1488 that the young King James IV of Scotland stopped by on his return from his coronation, to purchase beer from the local brewery. This is recorded as the first public purchase of beer. In 1947 the brewery was converted to a distillery. We have a plentiful supply of fresh spring water from the surrounding Ochil hills, which are also well known for the gold that was mined from them. The water which reaches the distillery has taken 15 years to reach the Danny Burn, which runs alongside the distillery. Tullibardine is a traditional working distillery. As one of the few remaining family owned distilleries, our small team of Artisan distillers take enormous pride in handcrafting our single malt whisky.
