The Balvenie Scotch Whisky, Single Malt, Doublewood 12, 750 Millilitre, $71.99
The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky gains its distinctive character from being matured in two wood types. Over the period of maturation, it is transferred from a traditional oak whisky cask to a first fill European oak sherry cask. Each stage lends different qualities to the resulting single malt, whilst the traditional casks soften and adds character and the sherry wood brings depth and fullness of flavor. On the nose there is sweet fruit and Oloroso sherry, layered with honey and vanilla. Taste is a smooth mellow single malt of beautifully combined flavors – nutty sweetness, cinnamon spiciness and a delicately proportioned layer of sherry, all encompassed in a long and warming finish. Best enjoyed neat, on the rocks or with a splash of water to expand the flavor. Nestled in the picturesque surroundings of Dufftown, Speyside, The Balvenie distillery has been handcrafting whisky for more than 130 years, notably the most handcrafted of single malts. Nowhere else can you find a distillery that grows its own barley, malts in its own traditional floor maltings and still employs a team of coopers to tend to the casks alongside a coppersmith to maintain the stills. With a team committed to ultimate craftsmanship, their dedicated characters pour their soul and obsession into every single bottle. This demonstrates that, whilst it takes skill to make something great, it takes true heart to make it extraordinary. And of course, Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie who presides over the all-important maturation process. Founded in 1892 by William Grant, The Balvenie Single Malt Scotch Whisky is produced by William Grant & Sons Ltd, an award-winning independent family-owned distiller and today run by his direct descendants. Each expression has a very individual taste, rich, luxuriously smooth and underpinned by the distinctively honeyed character of The Balvenie. Handcrafted to be enjoyed responsibly.

Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve Whisky, Blended Scotch, 750 Millilitre, $58.99
By appointment to Her Majesty the Queen. Scotch whisky distillers. John Walker & Sons Limited, London. The master blender's reserve. Finest malt and grain whiskies. John Walker & Sons. The Celebration Blend: the master blender's reserve. Finest malt and grain whiskies. When John Walker first established his family business in 1820 he began a lineage of pioneering whisky craftsmen that continues unbroken to this day. The expertise and carefully honed skills of these craftsmen have been passed down from generation to generation, each crafting innovative whisky flavors with deep character to be savored and enjoyed all around the world. Inspired by this rich tradition, we have today created Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve, a vibrant and contemporary celebration of the art of blending Scotch Whisky. As Master Blender I have personally chosen casks of my favorite whiskies from selected reserves to craft this whisky of vibrant character. They include casks of Clynelish Single Malt Whisky whose water source flows from the Kildonan Hills where gold was discovered in 1868. These whiskies are then brought together to create a smooth, creamy and beautifully balanced blend with deep layers of rich flavor. The result is a sweet and fruity Blended Scotch Whisky that evolves into deep honeyed tones and long, lingering waves of light smoke. Best served over crushed ice with a slice of orange, this is a whisky that is every bit as luxurious and indulgent as its name suggests. Johnnie Walker Gold Label Reserve is a perfect celebration of the art of blending, created for today's moments of celebration. - Jim Beveridge, Master Blender Johnnie Walker.
